Jumpax Basic

Jumpax Basic is one of the premier floor levelling systems on the market. It is a lightweight underlayment designed for the following floors:

  • Vinyl (LVT)
  • Laminate
  • Engineered Wood
  • Linoleum
  • Carpet
  • Tile
  • Hardwood
  • Natural Stone

It operates on a two-layer system. The bottom is made of dense material that is aimed at correcting minor imperfections in the subfloor that end up showing on the main floor. On top of that, it improves the stability of the floor and reduces the chances of shifting underfoot. The top layer is mainly designed to make the surface floor as smooth and level as possible and lock the layers together through direct adhesion to avoid movement and improve stability.

With Jumpax Basic, you’re looking at not only a quick installation but an easy one. The lightweight nature means that you can work with very little fatigue, and the installation instructions are straightforward.

Level your floors with these ingenious options today and save time and money on subfloor preparation allowing you to get on and fit your flooring faster.

Jumpax Basic is a lightweight underlayment made of MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard). MDF is made up of wood fibres that have been combined with resin and wax and then pressed into sheets.

It is known for its smooth surface and consistent density despite its weight and thickness. One of its most appealing elements is its cost-effectiveness and ease of installation, which far outperforms other similar floor levelling underlays.

Yes, Jumpax Basic is generally compatible with underfloor heating. There is little thermal resistance to be offered by Jumpax Basic, meaning that heat can easily pass through the floor into the room efficiently. In fact, the underlayment has a tog rating of 0.7, which is lower than a lot of underlayment options on the market that describe themselves as being compatible with underfloor heating.

Jumpax Basic technically can be used in any room in a house, but there are considerations to be made. For example – high moisture-prone rooms like the bathroom and kitchen will need the subfloor to be suitably sealed to prevent moisture ingress. The reason is that Jumpax Basic is made up of wood fibres, and wood notoriously expands when exposed to moisture.

That being said, it’s entirely possible to have them in these rooms if care is taken. For example, if you were to have a flooring type above that was highly resistant to water, for example, then water would be unable to seep down to the underlayment/subfloor and therefore protect the Jumpax Basic system beneath.

However, moisture also comes from below – the subfloor. As a result, you may need to add some additional measures, such as a moisture barrier between the underlayment and the subfloor if you think installing this underlay is perfect for your bathroom or kitchen.

Alternatively, you could use a wood resin sealant to ensure that the usually porous MDF cannot be penetrated and expanded from within via moisture.

Jumpax Basic, whilst primarily being a floor levelling underlayment, has some other benefits that you will notice when installed.

For one, it has a sound reduction of 21dB when installed over QA TechniBoard underlay, meaning it is perfectly viable as an acoustic solution on top of levelling your flooring.

Secondly, as previously mentioned, it is compatible with underfloor heating, having a low TOG rating of 0.7.

It entirely depends on the extent of the damage and the type.

Moisture damage, whilst destructive and inhibiting to the MDF material, can be repaired. Always consult a floor fitting professional for advice.
